The Schill Holding GmbH is a family business.
The basis of our wealth originates from generations of successful entrepreneurs. The family first established a winery in 1811. In 1859 a Malt factory was founded. The enterprise was a family owned and managed international company until it was sold in 2011. For more than 25 years, we have also invested in other companies.
The basic rationale behind our investment decisions is value investing. We invest in companies whose substance, profitability and future potential is not sufficiently recognized and rewarded. Also, these companies are ones that could not fully develop, due to their past circumstances. These are the ones we want in our portfolio and that can grow from our investment.
As a value investor, we are entrepreneurs, not speculators. We are looking for companies at a discount to their ‘intrinsic value’. We seek to benefit from the dividends and long-term capital gains of these companies.
The management of Schill Holding offers the investment of equity as well as advising companies and investors. This could be possible, for example under a management service contract or a supervisory mandate.
Investments
As co-owner of companies, we have high expectations. In addition to a compelling business model (Good Business) and a good management (Good People) ), the price of the investment has to be attractive (Good Price).
As an investor, we could either make direct investments in companies, or invest by buying shares in the stock market. With the option of direct investments we will have an active influence and this is the aspiration of our business. With the acquisition of shares, the role is usually limited to the rights of a shareholder.
